Tips for BYO Wine

If you are thinking of taking your own wine to a restaurant, here are a few tips to make the experience a pleasant one.

Firstly, it pays to check with the restaurant to see if they are happy for you to "BYO".

Secondly, if you are going to take your own wine, it is good manners to take wine the restaurant doesn't already stock and/or take a wine of special significance, such as a Nardone Baker wine (hint, hint)!

Remember that you will be charged a corkage fee. You might want to ask what that is ahead of time to determine whether it still makes bringing your own wine worthwhile.

Wine writer, Natalie McLean suggests it is a good practice to buy a glass of wine from the restaurant, such as a sparkling wine, as a "goodwill gesture". (You can subscribe to Natalie's free newsletter at www.nataliemaclean.com ).

Naturally, if your favourite restaurant does not stock Nardone Baker wine, suggest they do and set yourself up for a culinary paradise!
